News: Tomb Raider

not too long ago when i was organizing some of the stuffs in my room, i stumble upon some old artwork. i felt like this particular piece of artwork was at the prefect time to be post and mention, because of a certain game that was presented at E3.

a video game tomb raider is getting a reboot from square-enix and crystal dynamics. i dont know much about it, but from what i had read, it looks promising.

the new tomb raider is revealed in this stunning teaser, complete with beautiful pre-render visuals. watch as the new lara croft begins her fight for survival.

More Tomb Raider Videos

anyways... here are the artwork that i mention earlier. i would also like to note that this artwork wasn't done by me, it was a gift from an old friend back in my high school days (1997-2001).
i decided to give it an upgrade, made some editing here and there. im going to put a back ground to give a little more life, so this isn't this final version.

Zack Fair Artwork (Work In Progress)

final fantasy vii was a great game during my teenage-year. it was so great, it got me hopping on the squaresoft-bandwagon (which was known by that name until they merge the company they are known as now "square-enix"). anyways, with the release of crisis core: final fantasy vii, square-enix reminded me why i hopped on there bandwagon. the love of a game with good story, good art, good sound track, and good game-play.

here are some artwork i been working on, a character from crisis core: final fantasy vii's zack fair.

different angle of posing position

(top left corner) zack holding up a materia, (middle) a close-up on zack slashing downward, and last (bottom left corner) a farther look on zack kneeing down on one leg, downward slash.

a parody: the last battle scene of zack fighting off countless shrine soldier

i wanted to do like a mini comic showing zack at his last stand, jumping into the crowd of enemies. hacking and slashing his way towards survival/freedom, until he slowly getting gun down. maybe a few panel of flashback of aerith to increase the emotion of the story, epic. hopefully it can be done. as of now, its just a dream.

chibi zack with moggle

i drew this base on a picture from my cosplaying event at ACEN.

My Fan-Art of Bruce Lee

this post was meant to be on valentine’s day (keep reading and you’ll find out why later), but I couldn’t meet the dead line. i didn’t want to wait a whole entire year to post this up because im afraid it might slip my mind. i tend to forget to do things from time to time, i have a lot of up-keeps going on in my life.

anyways, before i get all side-track about it.

i did a fan art on bruce lee from the movie “game of death”. its a classic action flick, and consider to be an “alright” movie during its time.

here are some fight scene images I got from the internet for memory refreshment.

The character in the yellow jump suit was played by bruce lee, and the tall fellow he fighting against was played by a well known retired nba player named kareem.

i drew a female version of that tall fighter, and named her nakim. think of her as an amazonian warrior, sexy huh. if you didn’t notice, i added furry slipper that shape like a paw on her feet. this work here is done by photoshop:

step 1: using pencil and paper for rough draft

step 2: darken the outline with pen

step 3: scan it on a scanner

step 4: use photoshop to clean, add color here and there, and end with some shadowing and trimming.

this made drawing a lot easier. saved a lot of paper, wish I discover this sooner.

the next character i drew is bruce lee in chibi form to accompany nakim because without chibi bruce lee, i dont think anyone will get the idea of my character nakim.

it turn out very nice, it seems like chibi bruce lee is weak against female fighter. lol

a second parody. i called this piece "game of love", get it? renamed after the movie title.

so yeah… im a fan of bruce lee, and i admire his achievement in life. story of his strength and agility are so incredible, it seems unbelievable. he is legend. i thought it’ll be cool/fun to dress up as him for halloween.

here are some of my favorite video links related to bruce lee

• nokia commerical: bruce lee lit matchstick with a nunchucks

My Room Design: Completed

wasted my whole entire winter vacation on planning and shopping, it was very time consuming. still, it wasn't enough time to get everything done. it took a lot longer than i expected.

here are pictures to show what i had to go through. i had to clean out my entire room before i could put anything together.
this bed frame was shipped from new york, its awesome for storage. i think its way better than those weak pull out drawers. p.s. in case your wondering, i am practicing for UFC/MMA. thats right, thats how they do it.
the cavali storage bed (white), expensive... T_T...
in the process of building the wardrobe i got from ikea

i think batman would have a bed frame like this. neat place to hide stuff.
wardrobe: drawer, basket, and gloss door were bought separately

stainless steel custom made closet from the factory i work at, free
wanted this L-shape table at room & board, it was expensive as hell. so i went there and copy there design, fabricated at the factory. free
no 4th leg in the middle
was thinking about glass top... changed my mind cause it didn't match with the color scheme i was going for.
2 piece 18" x 36" MDF white table top from "room & board"... expensive... T_T

life as a carpenter, in the process of building the hutch
added cushion underneath the hutch so it wouldn't scratch up the table top
the finish result
my home office complete, ^^ finally...

i am still pondering where to position some of my figure collection for displaying, so to be continue... room gonna change a bit.

Announcement: Team Work

i fail to blog on a consistent basis to weekly blog as i promised. in order to keep my blog alive and running, i realized i can't do this alone. so i seek for help, and i got my cousin ivan to assist me. i talked over with him about my situation and he seems delighted to lend me a helping hand. cousin ivan will be blogging mostly on the video games category. he is much more of a gamer than me and he is also fine writer, so stay "toon" for his reviews. ^^

MidNight 12 Production's Logo/Trademark

i created a logo/trademark that i'll be using to label all my artwork and picture. i think of it as a stamp of ownership. i can also use it for censoring purposes too to block exposure parts in picture since i have mostly cast off figures that i'll be blogging about.
it took me at least a day to complete this. the design took me awhile up come up with. it all started with the idea of censoring future pictures i'll be posting up, and using "black block" for censoring picture is somewhat simple. so i decided to use bat-kun, my mascot. but then again, i didn't want to be using bat-kun on a picture because it'll seem comical. i decided to add a symbol underneath bat-kun.

long story-short... bat-kun is a bat and it reminded me of batman, so when i think of the word "symbol" and "batman" it reminded me of the "batman's symbol". i took and use that idea, and replace the body of bat-kun with the batman's symbol. i made a few changes here and there. if you look closely, you can see the initial "MN" = "MidNight" underneath the wings. clever, huh.

Good Bye 2010, Hello 2011!!!

here is bat-kun in his tux welcoming the new year with a bam!!!

Plans: New Room Furnitures

my current room is somewhat of a mess, and it isn't appealing at all. my stuff is all over the place, and i am lacking space as my hobby collection continue to grow. my room needs a make-over, i plan to buy new furniture. as a result, i made this blue print.list of furniture:

(A)
glass top L-shaped desk
it doesn't have to be glass material, an all white color (wooden material) will do fine too as long as it is an "L"-shape desk. i need a bigger working space for surfing the web while doing paper work, i wasn't able to do that cause my current desk was very very small.

(B)
desk top shelf, color: white
this will be place/attach on top of the desk for accessory storage purposes.

(C)
detolf glass door cabinet
i already have one, planning to get another one since my collection grew.
this item is available at ikea for the price of $59.99

(D)
dvd tower shelf, color: white
this item is the perfect size i been searching for, measure to be 7-1/8" wide. it is able to fit in that little space i have in the corner between the window. i plan to put all my personal dvds, blu-ray, and videogames on that shelf. the price tag on that item is listed as $39.99 at ikea

(E)
hemnes wardrobe, color: white
a small closet with at least one under shelf.
it is 26" wide, price $169.00 at ikea

(F)
queen size bed frame: tokyo 802 modern platform bed set that comes with other stuff that i don't need, the price is over $4,000. it is way too expensive, i am looking for some thing cheaper with a similar design shown in this photo. i find the bed mat being able to lift up is pretty awesome, like some secret storage space to hide stuff.

in conclusion, i am most likely going to ikea for all my shopping needs for the room. as for the desk, im thinking of going to other places (like best buy, office max, and staple) and do some price comparison in case ikea don't have the desk i like. the queen size bed frame is going to be a tough one, i might need to do a deep search to find one in my local area for an affordable price. i am hoping i can get this project of mine complete by the end of my winter break. ^^

Welcome, New Blog Page

its been a while since i last blogged, i will continue from here on out blogging at least once or twice a week. the current theme on this page is temporary, i'll be changing it soon. my ideal theme is still in the work-in-process stage. hopefully it'll be done soon.

so, here are some sample of what i been working on...

the banner for my header.

its still very rough, i need to clean it some more with photoshop. the background will be black, and the word "mid night" will be color somewhat neon-baby-blue. i want to make it look like its glowing.

This will be my mascot, he will be representing my blog. his name is "bat-kun"

he act tough, but deep down he a softy.

Mini Comic: a university's crush

cast:
-professor katie "writing instructor"
-alex (me)
-classmates

setting: classroom

summary:
first, i would like to say that this mini comic is still in a "work-in-progress" and this event is based on a true story. the class started with a light lecture by professor katie and then all of a sudden, she told her entire students that she recently got engaged. at the top right corner is supposed to be a panel that shows a close-up look on her sparkly ring. as expected, we're all happy for her. especially the girls, i guess they found it to be romantic. but deep down, i'm sure this was our true reaction. i mean, come on... we were young male adults and she was a pretty good looking professor, so i'm sure that i am not the only one who felt that way.

anyways, happy chinese new year. hope you guys enjoy the humor from this mini comic.

Professor Katie

professor katie was my instructor for my writing course that i enroll during fall 2004. she was kinda hot and young for a university instructor. i believe she was in her mid-twenty.theres a few reason i drew her:
1) i drew her because she caught my interest and i like to draw interesting things.
2) i plan to use her as a character on a "one page mini comic" i did a while ago (soon to be post).
fyi, eventho its a comic, it was an event that truly did happen.

My Room

i have named a few title for this piece:

1. "monday morning", it take some time for me to "siked" myself up to begin my day because im not a big fan of waking up every morning on a monday to start my labor right after an awesome weekend.

2. "sleeping nake", im messing around with this one just to be funny. i sleep in my boxer, so technically speaking i sleep half-nake.
3. "my room", i deicided to stick with this title because it is actually base off my room. hey, its a simple title for a simple drawing.

this artwork of mine is from april 10, 2007. i know my artwork isn't perfect, so i do make minor changes from time to time for polishing purposes.
